Marie had her second spinal stem cell injection on Friday May 11. We did the six hours of not moving and she woke up fine. She choked on her milk in the morning, shook her head and got a huge headache. She had to go back to bed. The doctor checked her out and gave her a shot to help get rid of the pain in her head.
Sunday she was feeling fine and we went shopping. I had my first great coffee at Starbucks. Marie bought a lot of things.
Monday and Tuesday were filled with the same routine.
Wed. Marie received her third spinal stem cell injection. We did the six hour of no movement and she was fine in the morning. When she was put on the standard in PT, she got a massive headache and had to go to bed. The doctor gave her another shoot to relieve the pain. She has been in and out of bed now for the last four days with headaches. Today is Sunday May 20Th. I am tired of being here, the last few days have been very difficult. I have five more sleeps until I meet up with Chris. I can't wait. No one here does any lifting., even in PT. I transfer Marie at least 12 times a day. My back is worn out. Tomorrow Marie gets her last Stem cell injection. This one is an IV. It doesn't have any side affects. The weather this week has been 35 c. Today it is raining and cooling off. Marie is sick of spending so many hours in bed. Please respond with some good news for encouragement for Marie.

Dear Karen and Marie,
It is the Victoria's Day long weekend. Most people are out gardening. The weather has been great so far. We are thinking of you all the time. In fact, I have been checking your blog almost daily.
Marie,
Hang in there! It must be very difficult to go through the injections and terrible headaches. I know you are a girl with strong will, and you will make it! I hope you've found something pretty from your shopping trip as well.
Karen,
Take care of yourself! I know how difficult it is for you to lift her all day long. We went through the same thing with my father. Can you hire a helper to do that for you just to give you a break?
Thinking of you!
Julia
HI Karen and Marie: We are thinking about you everyday hoping things are going well.
Marie: It must be so very hard for you and I am sorry you have had to suffer with those awful headaches. You are such a strong person, so just hang in there for a little longer. Just think you are almost finished with the treatments! Chris will be coming soon and you will have such fun visiting the Great Wall of China. I can't wait to hear all about it.
Karen: You hang in there. I wish I could just come there and give you and Marie a great big hug! You are such a rock for Marie and I know she appreciates all you do for her. Before you know it Chris will be there with you as well. We miss you here at school. It just isn't the same without your smiling face and I miss my diet coke/lime drinking buddy. I will keep one on ice for you!
Please take care of yourself and take comfort in knowing that we all are thinking about you both everyday.
Lynn
Hi Karen and Marie,
Just remember that it is all worth it in the end. Focus on the end result. You are both very strong women and can get through this.
Take care,
Ami
Hi Karen and Marie!
Good coffee and a little retail therepy are definately in order! You are both so brave, just a few more days...Chris will be there b4 you know it! Take strength in that the worst of the treatments are over and the end is near.
Marie - I can't wait to see what great fashions you pick out to bring home.. I miss you, be strong for the last few days, knowing that you will be home soon...but not before you see the great wall!
Love,
Alison
Hi Marie & Karen, I'll try my message again, last nights apparently didn't connect (I'm a new blogger)!! Dan is with me helping to compose our most inspiring message to you both! Marie, you are amazing to put yourself through this procedure. My physio will seem like a cake- walk now. Keep up the brave front for your mom, its almost over. Soon you will be taking goofy photos upon "the great wall" with your Mom & Chris. Dan misses you because he is the only PITA that i can pick on, so we look forward to having you back to tell us about your experience. Will you ever want chinese food again?? You are a brave person, keep smiling on the inside, even on those difficult days. Your guardian angel will get you both through this adventure. Be strong in mind & spirit.
Karen: You are a "Super Mom" if there ever was one. I knew this would be an enormous undertaking for you, but it was something you both had to do. i hope when you return that you are able to have some R&R time for yourself. You need to be of healthy mind & spirit but that is impossible unless you get some time to yourself to recharge the batteries . A person can only do so much before the thread that binds wears thin. You are an amazing Mom for your family & I'm sure they appreciate everything you do but you need to look after #1 before you can help #2 & #3. how does a spa weekend at Hockley sound when you get back?? Don't ever feel you are neglecting Marie by doing something for yourself. Trust me, we know that downtime for yourself is essential to keep focused. Some Chinese therapy would likely be alot cheaper than the imported variety we get here. Treat yourself to another hair salon day, that sounded awesome. Keep your spirit shining, it'll soon be over & you'll both look back on the adventure & wonder how you ever did it!! Two female Bramptonites alone in the other side of the world, how brave you are!! looking forward to having you on home turf. Dan gives Marie a "thumbs up" & he has a lady friend coming over frequently to hang out (through facebook) & he says thanks Marie for getting me onto it. Happy shopping Marie, get some good bargains, we want a fashion show when you return! Love, Darlene, Dan, Jim & Cosmoe says Hi!

Hi Karen,
I'm so glad the treatments are going well for Marie. I wish that you could get some help with the lifting - it really must be hard work - especially for the back. My back is hurting for you. Maybe you can get your hair done everyday!! A head and back massage sure would help out. I know that you are strong and will get through this with flying colours and in a few days your spirits will be lifted even more when you see Chris. Hang in there and have a great site seeing adventure.
Hi Marie,
You are so beautiful and a strong young woman. I know you can get through this. Hopefully your headaches are in the past now and there will be no more side affects. Glad you got out shopping. Are the clothes different in China then in Ontario?? Cheaper I bet!! I can hardly wait to come and visit during the summer to hear more about China.
Just a few more days and you will be meeting up with your brother. I am sure that will make you feel happy. Then China will all be worth it, site seeing and travelling the lag. Hope your next treatment goes well and have a great holiday.
Great to hear from you both. The weather is hot, hot. Our temperature is about 20-25 degress today and tomorrow with rain in the forecast.
Talk to you soon, Bye for now.
Lori
Hey guys, this must be your big weekend, big bro. arrives in shining armour!! Hope you are feeling better Marie, has your mom been taking video of your treatments??? I'm anxious to hear about your speach, accupuncture, physio treatments, you must have some new techniques to show me. Just in case you're concerned about the hockey Ottawa plays Anaheim for the cup starting on monday! Did you find a nice dress for grad. when you get home?? Have a great wrap up to this journey. See you soon. Darlene
